Exile

Because of their new beliefs and behaviors, early Christians across Asia Minor encountered hostility from the communities they lived in. They were discouraged and worried about being surrounded by people who disagreed, sometimes violently, with how they lived. Now that they belonged to God’s Kingdom, they felt like strangers, exiles, in the countries they called home. Sound familiar? 1 Peter is the letter he sent to those Christians, and its message applies to you just as much as it did to them. He wants to remind you of God’s grace and to encourage you to stand firm. Your faith will be tested in unexpected ways, but God will always be faithful to you and He will help you will become more like Jesus through your suffering.
